Poetic Licence Contest for young Canadian poets

The League of Canadian Poets, a national not-for-profit poetry organization, invites youth to submit poems as part of this year's poetry contest.

Poems must be unpublished, original work and must not exceed 50 lines, with a limit of two poems per entrant. Poems will be judged in two age categories: Junior (Grades 7 - 9) and Senior (Grades 10 - 12).

Winners in each age category will receive a certificate, a one-year League of Canadian Poets membership and publication in their electronic magazine, plus a monetary award for first ($350), second ($300) or third ($250) place standing.

Deadline: January 15, 2011
All submissions should be sent by e-mail to readings@poets.ca
with Poetic Licence Contest for Canadian Youth in the subject line.

Winners will be announced during National Young Poet's week in April and featured on the Young Poet's website: www.youngpoets.ca
