Trident Media Group is one of the largest and most diversified agencies in the world. Trident represents over 1,000 authors in a range of genres of fiction and nonfiction, many of whom have appeared on the New York Times Best Sellers Lists and have won major awards and prizes. For more than six consecutive years, Publishers Market Place ranked Trident number one for sales in North America. But Trident doesn’t just work with bestselling authors; it also takes on emerging authors.

Claire Roberts is a Vice President of Trident Media. In addition to heading up Trident’s foreign rights department, Claire is now building her own list of authors, and like all new agents, she needs authors.

Claire has been a publishing professional for 24 years, with 19 years of experience in UK and foreign rights. With her wide foreign rights experience, she will agent her clients in both the U.S. and in the international markets.

Her focus is on upmarket and literary fiction, upmarket crime fiction and narrative non-fiction.

Before joining Trident, Claire oversaw the foreign rights program for Doubleday and Broadway Books, both imprints of Random House US. Prior to that she managed foreign rights for William Morrow and Avon Books, and for the trade books division of Harcourt Brace, now a part of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.

Some of the authors she has handled in the international markets are: Justin Cronin, Elizabeth George, Michael Ondaatje, Marilynne Robinson, Mark Sennen, Radhika Swarup, Sonali Deraniyagala, Paul Harding, Marlon James, and Bob Swarup. Claire graduated from Brown University with a B.A. magna cum laude in Comparative Literature and holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
