The Mint Literary Agency is based in Nelson, British Columbia. It represents authors from across Canada but has a special interest in developing writers from the Kootenays.

Morty Mint has close to 50 years in the book industry and has worked in England, Canada and the U.S.  He has headed up major book publishing companies, including Penguin Books in Canada and in the U.S. He has owned and operated a successful book distribution company, Mint Publishers Group, which developed the brands Guinness Book of Records and Ripley’s Believe It or Not into major bestsellers in North America and delivered both to the New York Times bestseller lists.  He is now devoting his considerable expertise and energies to building his literary agency. Morty is also a proactive member of the Nelson literary community, having been involved with the Kootenay Literary Competition and the Cultural Development Committee for the city of Nelson.

Monty represents literary and commercial fiction, including mystery and thrillers, plus narrative nonfiction and lifestyle books. He does not represent children’s stories or picture books, young adult fiction, fantasy, science fiction, poetry or screenplays.

Include a one-page synopsis of the work, including genre and word count. For fiction, include the first 50 pages; for non-fiction, include a one-page book proposal and the completed manuscript. See the submissions page here.
